Hot off the press… Wolves book is back
The MNA’s brand new Wolves book Back Where We Belong – Story of the Season 18/19 has been officially released.
Written and compiled by Wolves correspondent Tim Spiers, the 152-page book tells the story of another hugely successful season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Wolves finished seventh and reached the FA Cup semi-finals, producing some unforgettable memories along the way including famous victories over Manchester United (twice), Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
The book offers a game-by-game guide to the entire campaign, with at least two pages devoted to each fixture with match reports, analysis, quotes from Nuno and the players, stats, fan verdicts and pictures.
There is also an exclusive in-depth interview with executive chairman Jeff Shi, a foreword penned by captain Conor Coady and a number of features.
It follows on from the success of last season’s book, On Our Way Back – Story of the Season 17/18’ of which all copies sold out.
This year’s book – which was printed last week at Precision Colour Printing in Telford – is being sold in the Wolves Megastore, branches of Waterstones including Wolverhampton and Merry Hill, the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, reception at Express & Star and a host of stockists around the Black Country.

Back Where We Belong – Story of the Season 18/19 is a game-by-game guide to another fantastic season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves, who finished seventh in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup semi-finals.
It features an exclusive and in-depth interview with Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi, as well as a foreword from skipper Conor Coady.
The story of every single game from the season is told via match reports, published as they were written in real-time, as well as stats, quotes, fan verdicts, player ratings and all the defining images of a memorable year.
Head of editorial art, Simon Hill, has expertly produced a dazzling design for the 152-page book which is available online and in selected stores, including the Wolves Megastore, several branches of Waterstones and at the Express & Star’s main reception in Queen Street, Wolverhampton.
In a detailed interview covering the season, the future, Fosun, Europe and more, Shi revealed his favourite player and match the campaign – and admitted the year surpassed his own expectations.
“It’s been a great season,” Shi says in the book. “At the beginning on the year, personally I thought to finish in the top 10 would be amazing.
“To stay in the league would be the first thing we should do, but the top 10 would have been unbelievable. Now we’ve over-performed from that.
“That’s good, but in general it’s a long road; year one, year two, year three.
“Now is the time to think forward. Two or three years ago we were trying to be promoted to the top flight but now it’s another challenge – we’re trying to challenge the top six and the top four.”
In his foreword for the book, captain Coady speaks of his pride at having worn the armband during such a successful Premier League campaign.
“What an absolutely phenomenal season for this brilliant football club,” he said.
“To come into the league as a newly-promoted team, finish that high in the table and qualify for Europe is absolutely exceptional.”
Last year’s book, On Our Way Back – Story of the Season 17/18, was a complete sell-out and more than 10 per cent of available copies have already been shifted of Back Where We Belong.
